The Compendium

The Compendium is our compact bi-annual publication. Every volume of The Compendium centers on a distinct question.

The first issue, “The Talk” explores the many ways women of Color learned about sex and sexuality.

“The Talk” is an exploration of how women across the Diaspora came to learn about sex and what it meant to have a sexual relationship. Did your mom or auntie sit you down? Were your homegirls responsible for giving you the blow by blow? Was Cinemax After Dark your sex ed instructor? Have you “Googled” information about sex and sexuality?

Rarely do women have the opportunity to share openly about sex and sexuality, particularly women of color, and let’s get this right, by women, we mean all those who identify as women, whether or not they fall into the easily boxable categories of “straight, lesbian, bisexual, queer, or transexual”. All women’s stories are important.

This volumeĀ  is ultimately about our testimonies regarding how we were taught or chose to learn about our sexuality. How we are continuing to learn, lessons we wish we could share with other women of Color, introspective activities of reflection. This is all about us.
